Regular Season Round 5: Saarlouis - BG 89 Avides 70-67

The most exciting game of round 5 in the DBBL took place in Saarlouis. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (2-3) to leader TV Saarlouis Royals (5-0) 70-67 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Rotenburg/Scheessel was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 17-11 charge of TV Saarlouis Royals, which allowed them to win the game. Latvia forward Sabine Niedola (184-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Angela Tisdale (170-85, college: Baylor) contributed with 18 points and 4 steals for the winners. Finnish forward Minna Sten (190-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and Czech swingman Petra Zaplatova (175-91) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Rotenburg/Scheessel. Four Rotenburg/Scheessel players scored in double figures. TV Saarlouis Royals have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Rotenburg/Scheessel at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Halle. TV Saarlouis Royals are looking forward to face league's second-placed Herner TC on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against TSV 1880 Wasserburg (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
