Regular Season Round 20: Heidelberg - Keltern II 70-59

Leader BasCats Heidelberg recorded the eighteenth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Keltern II (5-13) 70-59. The game was mostly controlled by BasCats Heidelberg. Keltern II was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BasCats Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Keltern II's 24. BasCats Heidelberg forced 19 Keltern II turnovers. The winners were led by American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) who scored that evening 9 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Serena Benavente (167-85, college: St.Mary's, CA) supported her with 11 points. Even a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds by American power forward Kristi Mokube (188-93, college: George Mason) did not help to save the game for Keltern II. Leonie Elbert (169-96) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. BasCats Heidelberg (18-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South. Newly promoted Keltern II keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. BasCats Heidelberg's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Don Bosco Bamberg on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Keltern II will play against Rhein Main Baskets (#5) and hope to win that game.
