Regular Season Round 2: Rhoendorf - Muenster 74-107
Date: September 25, 2021
But Dragons Rhoendorf was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Muenster 107-74 on Saturday night. Muenster dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Dragons Rhoendorf's 36. Muenster forced 21 Dragons Rhoendorf turnovers and had a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Dragons Rhoendorf's players. Canadian guard Ryan Richmond (185-96, college: Bentley) notched 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Stefan Wess (203-94) supported him with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard William Christmas (196-93, college: CPP) did not help to save the game for Dragons Rhoendorf. Beninese point guard Ralph Hounnou (193-2) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Five Muenster and four Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Muenster will meet at home Rhein Stars in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Rist Wedel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
