The game had a very big importance for second-rankedBonn/Rh. as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Sudhessen) loss. Bonn/Rh. defeated their close opponent Basketball-Akademie at home 70-62 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basketball-Akademie. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Bonn/Rh. made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Kenan Reinhart (194-2007) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Forward Oumar Bamba (200-2006) contributed with 8 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Christian Mann (199-2006) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and center Kai Muesse (205-2006) added 8 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Giessen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Bayern. Giessen at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost.
