Everything could happen in Goettingen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth rankedRheinland and 10th ranked Veilchen had identical 2-4 record. But Veilchen was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Odenthal 72-65 on Sunday night. Leverkusen had a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-1995, college: CBU) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Lithuanian Ligita Tamutyte (177-1999) accounted for 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Rheinland players scored in double figures. American guard Kylie Kornegay-Lucas (178-2001, college: Towson) came up with 26 points and 4 assists and the other American import guard Lesila Finau (175-2000, college: CBU) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Veilchen in the defeat. Veilchen's coach Ruzica Dzankic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rheinland have a solid series of three victories in a row. Leverkusen (3-4) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Herner. Loser Veilchen keeps the tenth position with five games lost. Leverkusen will meet higher ranked Hannover (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Veilchen will play against Osnabrueck (#3) and hope to secure a win.
