The game in Herne was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Halle (8-9) played at the court of seventh ranked Herner (8-9). Herner defeated Halle 82-66 on Saturday. They outrebounded Halle 42-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Paige Robinson (178-2000, college: Illinois St.) who scored 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Australian center Darcy Rees (193-2000, college: Washington) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. American center River Baldwin (196-2001, college: NC State) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Polish point guard Dominika Fiszer (170-1994) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Herner moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Halle. Herner will meet at home bottom-ranked Freiburg (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Halle will play against Saarlouis (#3) and hope to secure a win.
