Regular Season Round 24: Giessen 46ers - Phoenix Hagen 77-72

No shocking result in a game when third ranked46ers (17-7) beat 8th ranked Phoenix Hagen (14-10) in Giessen 77-72 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Giessen made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. The winners were led by naturalized American guard Kevin McClain (190-1996, college: Belmont) who scored that evening 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and Serbian forward Viktor Kovacevic (203-1999, college: West Liberty) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds by Tim Uhlemann (203-1999) did not help to save the game for Hagen . Point guard Bjarne Kraushaar (190-1999) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. 46ers have an impressive six-game winning streak. Giessen maintains third position with 17-7 record having five points less than leader Jena. Hagen at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Tuebingen.
