The game had a very big importance for second-rankedSudhessen as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Sudhessen defeated 4th placed Metropol Ruhr in Darmstad 68-56 . Sudhessen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Metropol Ruhr 's 30. Sudhessen looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for guard Ben Kessler (196-2006) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 20 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward Erik Neunhoeffer (200-2006) helped adding 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Sudhessen players scored in double figures. Sudhessen's coach Matthias Donges used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Leeroy Jaiteh responded with 9 points and 14 rebounds and Italian Gianluca Pavlidis scored 18 points. Sudhessen (14-1) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Giessen. Metropol Ruhr at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Braunschweig.
