Everything could happen in Heidelberg at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked BasCats and one of their biggest challengers Freiburg 2 had identical 9-4 record. This time BasCats used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Freiburg 69-54 on Saturday night. Heidelberg forced 22 Freiburg 2 turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Kelly Moten (173-1993, college: Emporia St.) who scored that evening 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Jayla Oden (173, college: Penn State) supported her with 16 points. Even a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds by center Karla Busch (189-2007) did not help to save the game for Freiburg 2. Center Frederike Askamp (186-2009) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four Freiburg 2 players scored in double figures. Heidelberg (10-4) moved-up to second place, which they share with Jena. Loser Freiburg 2 keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Wuerzburg. Heidelberg will meet Stuttgart MTV (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Freiburg 2 will play against Bamberg and hope to secure a win.
