Important game to mention about took place in Trier. Seventeenth rankedMLP Academics Heidelberg (6-18) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Gladiators (12-10) 71-69 on Monday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Heidelberg forced 24 Trier turnovers. Strangely Trier outrebounded Heidelberg 47-33 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Ryan Mikesell (201-1996, college: Dayton, agency: Slash Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. His fellow American import guard Michael Weathers (190-1997, college: SMU) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. The former international center Maik Zirbes (208-1990) answered with 9 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman George King (198-1994, college: Colorado, agency: Slash Sports) added 7 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Trier. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Heidelberg maintains seventeenth place with 6-18 record. Trier lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with ten games lost.
