Regular Season Round 6: Thor Thorl - Stjarnan 77-94

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Thorlakshofn. Top-ranked Stjarnan faced 3rd ranked Thor Thorl. Guests from Stjarnan (6-0) defeated host Thor Thorl (4-2) 94-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Thor Thorl. The guests trailed by 16 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 17 points. Stjarnan shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Justin Shouse (181-81, college: Mercyhurst) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Five Stjarnan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Polish Maciej Baginski (195-95) added 14 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stjarnan have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Thor Thorl at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Grindavik and Tindastoll. Stjarnan are looking forward to face Tindastoll (#4) in Sauoarkrokur in the next round. Thor Thorl will play on the road against Thor AK in Akureyri and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
