Regular Season Round 17: Thor AK - KR 83-65

There was a change at the Dominos League leadership position after last games. Round 17 most important game was a defeat of league's leader KR (13-4). They were defeated by sixth ranked Thor AK (9-8) 83-65 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of KR. The game without a history. Thor AK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Thor AK had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard George Beamon (193-91, college: Manhattan) stepped up and scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and international center Tryggvi Hlinason (215-97) chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Forward Thorir Thorbjarnarsson (196-98) responded with 12 points and the former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. KR's coach Finnur Stefansson rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Thor AK moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Thor Thorl. Defending champion KR still keeps top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Stjarnan who have the same record. KR will play next round against IR trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik - IR. Thor AK will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Thor Thorl in Thorlakshofn.
