Regular Season Round 18: Haukar - Njardvik 73-78

There was no surprise in Hafnarfjordur where 10th ranked Haukar (6-12) was defeated by eighth ranked Njardvik (9-9) 78-73 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 45-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Johann Olafsson (193-86) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Njardvik's coach Daniel Gudmundsson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Emil Barja (192-91) who recorded 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American guard Sherrod Wright (193-91, college: George Mason) added 15 points respectively. Njardvik moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Keflavik and Thor AK. Loser Haukar dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Njardvik will face league's leader KR in Reykjavik in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Haukar will play on the road against Keflavik (#6) and hope to win that game.
