Regular Season Round 20: KFG - Selfoss 99-104

There was a minor upset in Gardabaer where 10th rankedKFG (6-14) was defeated by twelfth ranked Selfoss (5-14) 104-99 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 38-22 . But KFG won third quarter 29-18 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Selfoss made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Czech center Vojtech Novak (205-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American swingman Follie Bogan (193-2000, college: Milligan) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Five Selfoss players scored in double figures. Selfoss' coach Arni Hilmarsson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Viktor Ludviksson (202-2006) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Bjorn Birnisson (182-2007) added 34 points (!!!) and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Selfoss moved-up to eleventh place. Newly promoted KFG keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost.
