Regular Season Round 8: Satria Muda - Hang Tuah 83-76

Undefeated leader Satria Muda delivered the fifth consecutive victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Hang Tuah (3-3) 83-76 in Jakarta. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 31-25 Hang Tuah's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 83-76 at the end of the game. Satria Muda forced 20 Hang Tuah turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Carlos Smith (206-90, college: Bowie St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Tyreek Jewell (185-93, college: St.Francis, NY) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Satria Muda's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Andre Smith (208, college: William Jessup) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and guard JaJuan Smith (188-85, college: Tennessee) added 21 points and 8 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Hang Tuah. Four Hang Tuah players scored in double figures. Satria Muda (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Hang Tuah at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Pelita Jaya. Satria Muda will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hang Tuah will play on the road against Aspac (#3) in Jakarta and hopes to get back on the winning track.
