Regular Season Round 9: Naft Abadan - Tabriz 71-76

The game between third ranked Naft Abadan (6-3) and fifth ranked Tabriz (5-4) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Naft Abadan was defeated by Tabriz in a tough game in Abadan 71-76. Naft Abadan trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 20-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-76 at the end of the game. It was a good game for Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks for the winners. Four Tabriz players scored in double figures. Tabriz's coach Mehran Hatami used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Naft Abadan. Tabriz maintains fifth place with 5-4 record. Naft Abadan at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Azad. Tabriz are looking forward to face Kashan (#6) on the road in the next round. Naft Abadan will play against Shiraz a.s Pipe and is hoping to win this game.
