Regular Season Round 16: H.R. Le-Zion - Ramat Hasharon 92-89

The most exciting game of round 16 in the D1 took place in Rishon Le-Zion. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Ramat Hasharon (11-5) to sixth ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (5-11) 92-89 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ramat Hasharon. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Puerto Rican-American point guard Jennifer O'Neill (168-90, college: Kentucky) who added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her seven free throws) during the contest. At the losing side American Emma Cannon (187-89, college: Cent.Florida, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Laurin Mincy (183, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. Five Ramat Hasharon players scored in double figures. Ramat Hasharon's coach Edny Dagan tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion maintains sixth position with 5-11 record. Ramat Hasharon at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Bnot Hertzeliya. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion are looking forward to face Hap.Petah Tikva (#7) on the road in the next round. Ramat Hasharon will play against Elitzur Holon (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
