Important game to mention about took place in Rishon Le-Zion. Sixth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (7-6) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Maccabi Rishon (7-6) 87-86 in the fight for the fourth place. Hapoel Tel-Aviv forced 19 Maccabi Rishon turnovers. Maccabi Rishon was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) nailed 27 points and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman Alando Tucker (198-84, college: Wisconsin) accounted for 20 points and 7 rebounds. American-Belarusian point guard Maalik Wayns (185-91, college: Villanova) came up with 23 points and 7 assists and American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Maccabi Rishon in the defeat. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M and Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Hapoel Eilat (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Bnei Hasharon (#3) in Hod Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
