A very close game took place in Haifa between Hap.Haifa and Ironi Kiryat Ata. Twelfth ranked Hap.Haifa (9-14) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (13-10). Hap.Haifa managed to escape with a 2-point win 84-82 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It was an exceptional evening for Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). American guard Jahmar Young (196-87, college: N.Mexico St.) accounted for 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Hap.Haifa players scored in double figures. Hap.Haifa's coach Shaked Shoham used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Dallis Joyner (203-90, college: Stony Brook) came up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds and guard Noam Matalon (197-87) added 21 points and 7 assists respectively for Ironi Kiryat Ata in the defeat. Newly promoted Hap.Haifa maintains twelfth place with 9-14 record. Loser Ironi Kiryat Ata dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Maccabi H/H. Hap.Haifa will meet higher ranked Galil Elion (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ironi Kiryat Ata will play against Hapoel Afula (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
