Regular Season Round 27: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi T-A 65-57

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Maccabi T-A (17-10) against sixth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (14-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Maccabi T-A was defeated by Hapoel Jerusalem in a tough game in Jerusalem 57-65. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It was a great evening for the former international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: BeoBasket) with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Hapoel Jerusalem moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi T-A lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the second position with ten games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against league's leader Hapoel Holon on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi T-A will play against Maccabi Haifa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
