Regular Season Round 29: Maccabi K/G - Maccabi T-A 65-84

The game with biggest result difference took place in Kiryat Gat. Local Maccabi K/G (4-25) was outscored by third ranked Maccabi T-A (18-11) 84-65. It looked good early as Maccabi K/G took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi T-A had a 30-15 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi K/G was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-84. They outrebounded Maccabi K/G 33-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. Maccabi T-A players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Maccabi K/G's players. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) nailed 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists. Maccabi T-A's coach Ainars Bagatskis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 19 points and the other American import point guard Josh Selby (188-91, college: Kansas, agency: HMS) added 17 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for Maccabi K/G in the defeat. Maccabi T-A maintains third place with 18-11 record behind leader Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi K/G lost their ninth game in a row. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Maccabi T-A's next round opponent will be Ironi Nahariya (#8) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi K/G will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Holon (#2) and hope to win that game.
