Regular Season Round 1: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi T-A 68-82

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Hapoel Eilat (0-1) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Maccabi T-A (1-0) 82-68. The game without a history. Maccabi T-A led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Maccabi T-A outrebounded Hapoel Eilat 44-30 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) stepped up and scored 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Australian power forward Jonah Bolden (208-96, college: UCLA) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American guard Jordan Loyd (193-93, college: Indianapolis) responded with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Afik Nissim (185-81, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi T-A is looking forward to face Bnei Hasharon in Hod Hasharon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Eilat will play on the road against Hapoel Holon (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
