Regular Season Round 20: Hapoel T-A - Maccabi Ashdod 69-76

The biggest surprise of round 20 was guest Maccabi Ashdod's (#4) road victory over Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) 76-69 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hapoel Tel-Aviv won third quarter 12-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 44-19 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) who scored 29 points. American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Brad Greenberg used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) produced 12 points and 7 assists and international Tomer Ginat (202-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod maintains fourth position with 11-9 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi Ashdod are looking forward to face Hapoel Eilat (#6) at home in the next round. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Ironi Nes-Ziona in Nes Ziyona and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
