Regular Season Round 27: Hapoel T-A - Hapoel Holon 89-65

Winner League round 27 caused change at the leadership position. Tenth defeat of league's leader Hapoel Holon (17-10) against sixth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (15-12) 89-65 was the most important game of the last round. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Hapoel Tel-Aviv's pressure prevailed and they won that period 33-13 extending their advantage to 24 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Holon's 34. They outrebounded Hapoel Holon 48-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hapoel Tel-Aviv looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for American Tony Gaffney (206-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). International Tomer Ginat (202-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American forward Joe Alexander (203-86, college: W.Virginia) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel Holon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Holon at the other side dropped to the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Hapoel J-M. They were replaced at the leadership position by Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Holon will play next round against Hapoel Eilat trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Maccabi T-A. It will be extra interesting game as Maccabi T-A is their local rival from Tel-Aviv.
