Regular Season Round 19: Holon - Rishon 85-81

Winner League top team - Hapoel Holon (16-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Rishon (9-10) 85-81. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-12. But Rishon won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Holon players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a quality performance for American-Kosovan Shawn Jones (203-92, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: E.Kentucky) accounted for 24 points for the winning side. Hapoel Holon's coach Dan Shamir allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Cameron Long (192-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) came up with 25 points and 4 assists and the former international swingman Adam Ariel (192-94) added 18 points respectively for Rishon in the defeat. The victory was the thirteenth consecutive win for Hapoel Holon. They maintain first place with 16-4 record. Rishon at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Hapoel Holon will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rishon will play at home against Maccabi T-A (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
