There was a minor upset when 9th rankedAfula (5-9) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Kiryat Ata (4-10) 88-76 on Monday. Kiryat Ata outrebounded H.Afula 50-34 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Chris Smith (206-1999, college: UCLA) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Liam OReilly (188-1996, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: LHZ Sport Agency) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Kiryat Ata players scored in double figures. Jalen Lecque (194-2000, college: NC State) responded with 23 points and guard JCovan Brown (190-1990, college: Texas) scored 15 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Afula's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kiryat Ata maintains twelfth position with 4-10 record. H.Afula lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with H.Gilboa Galil and H.Galil Elion.
