There was an upset when higher rankedRamat Gan (12-12) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Kiryat Ata (8-16) 93-83 on Thursday. Kiryat Ata made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 M.Ramat Gan turnovers. The winners were led by American Chris Smith (206-1999, college: UCLA) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American swingman JJ Kaplan (196-1997, college: UAH) supported him with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Kiryat Ata's coach Eldad Bentov used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Kendale McCullum (184-1996, college: Lewis) did not help to save the game for M.Ramat Gan . The former international Adam Ariel (193-1994) added 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Kiryat Ata and four M.Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. Kiryat Ata moved-up to twelfth place. M.Ramat Gan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with I.Ness Ziona. Kiryat Ata will meet at home higher ranked H.Gilboa Galil (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. M.Ramat Gan will play against E.Netanya (#13) and hope to secure a win.
