Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion earned National League title. They upset Hapoel Eilat in the decisive fifth game of the championship series. Hapoel Eilat was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 30-13 charge of M.Rishon, which allowed them to win the game. StrangelyH.Eilat outrebounded M.Rishon 44-26 including 18 on the offensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by H.Eilat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Qua Grant (185-1999, college: SHSU) who scored 31 points and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Josh Freund (204-1997, college: Roanoke) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four M.Rishon players scored in double figures. American guard Gerald Hannahs (191-1993, college: Arkansas) produced 30 points and Tomer Porat (201-1999) added 15 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
