There was no surprise when 11th rankedM.Raanana (2-7) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Kiryat Ata (6-3) 84-80 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kiryat Ata made 9 blocks. American forward Malik Hall (203-2000, college: Michigan St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Jamiya Neal (196-2003, college: Creighton) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Kiryat Ata's coach Eldad Bentov allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Nate Laszewski (208-1999, college: Notre Dame) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-1989, college: Wichita St.) scored 19 points and 5 assists. Five Kiryat Ata and four M.Raanana players scored in double figures. Kiryat Ata maintains fifth place with 6-3 record. M.Raanana lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with M.Rishon and H.Galil Elion.
