Regular Season Round 16: Vicenza - Milano 64-34

The most important game in the last round took place in Vicenza between third ranked Milano (10-6) and fifth ranked Vicenza (10-6) on Saturday night. Milano was crushed by Vicenza on the road 34-64. The game without a history. Vicenza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Milano to just 7 points in second and fourth quarters. Vicenza dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Milano's 18. They outrebounded Milano 39-21 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Laura Benko (180-83, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Emanuela Ramon (187-82) contributed with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Martina Picotti (184-90) replied with 5 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Federica Pozzecco (172-93) added 9 points in the effort for Milano. Milano's coach Franz Pinotti gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Vicenza moved-up to third place in A2. Vicenza are looking forward to face Scrivia (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Milano will play against Pordenone (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
