There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked AV Cantu (7-10) won against at home higher ranked Brescia (8-9) 81-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AV Cantu. Brescia was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AV Cantu looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Greek forward Patrick Calathes (207-85, college: St.Joseph's) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. American power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five AV Cantu players scored in double figures. American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Lee Moore (193-95, college: UTEP) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Brescia. AV Cantu maintains thirteenth place with 7-10 record. Newly promoted Brescia keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. AV Cantu will face VL Pesaro (#15) on the road in the next round.
