There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Vicenza (9-20) outplayed at home higher ranked Crema (15-14) 77-54 on Saturday. Vicenza dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Crema's 22. They outrebounded Crema 39-25 including 31 on the defensive glass. Crema was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Umberto Campiello (198-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Point guard Daniele Demartini (187-84, agency: Players Group) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Vicenza players scored in double figures. Center Davide Bozzetto (207-89, agency: Players Group) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Daniele Manuelli (192-94) added 11 points in the effort for Crema. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vicenza moved-up to twelfth place in B, which they share with Volpino AltoSeb. Loser Crema keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Vicenza will face Sestu (#14) on the road in the next round.
