Regular Season Round 23: Lugo - Desio 73-87

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Lugo (8-15) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Desio (11-12) 87-73 on Saturday. Desio made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Lugo was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Andrea Mazzoleni (197-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Dominican guard Daniel Perez (185-97, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Desio's coach Fabrizio Frates used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Samuele Moretti (197-98, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Luca Valentini (189-97) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Desio moved-up to eighth place in B, which they share with Padova. Lugo lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Desio will face Tessilform Bernareggio (#12) on the road in the next round. Lugo will play against Reggio Emilia and hope to win that game.
