Regular Season Round 29: Desio - Faenza 87-80

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Faenza (18-11) lost on the road to eighth ranked Desio (15-14) 87-80 on Sunday. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Faenza outrebounded Desio 44-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Naturalized Dominican guard Daniel Perez (185-97, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Andrea Mazzoleni (197-98) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Desio players scored in double figures. Point guard Mattia Venucci (188-90) answered with 31 points and forward Simone Aromando (200-97) added 16 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Faenza. Desio maintains eighth place in B with 15-14 record. Loser Faenza keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Desio will face higher ranked Forli Tigers (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Faenza will play against Crema and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
