Regular Season Round 1: San Giovanni - Schio 59-76

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of San Giovanni in Sesto San Giovanni on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Schio 76-59. Schio looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. French forward Janelle Salaun (188-2001) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international point guard Costanza Verona (170-1999) chipped in 15 points. Four Schio players scored in double figures. Schio's coach Georgios Dikaioulakos used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Tinara Moore (191-1996, college: CMU) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds and Polish guard Anna Makurat (188-2000, college: UConn) scored 5 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Schio is looking forward to face Battipaglia at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San Giovanni will play against San Martino in San Martino di L and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
