Regular Season Round 5: Saronno - Treviglio 84-76
Date: October 17, 2024
There was an upset when higher rankedTreviglio (3-1) was defeated on the road by twentieth ranked Saronno (0-4) 84-76 on Thursday. It was a great shooting night for Saronno especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Guard Matteo Beretta (188-1999, agency: SLN) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Giacomo Maspero (204-1992) chipped in 19 points. Five Saronno players scored in double figures. Guard Marco Drocker Gian (190-2001) responded with 18 points and Croatian center Aleksandar Marcius (208-1990, college: DePaul) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Treviglio's coach Davide Villa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Saronno maintains twentieth place with 0-4 record. Loser Treviglio dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. They share it with Desio. Saronno will meet higher ranked Lumezzane (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Treviglio will play against Fiorenzuola and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Serie A2 just one year after relegation.
