Very expected game when 20th rankedPiacenza (7-29) lost at home to seventh ranked Verona (21-15) 91-78 on Saturday. Verona dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Piacenza 's 40 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Piacenza 43-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Verona looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by the former international Mattia Palumbo (198-2000) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Jalen Cannon (198-1993, college: SFC) supported him with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Verona players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 assists by guard Saverio Bartoli (194-2000) did not help to save the game for Piacenza . Michele Serpilli (201-1999) added 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Verona moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Rieti and Cividale. Loser Piacenza stay dead last with 29 lost games.
