There was an upset when Empoli was defeated at home by Cagliari V 78-71 on Saturday. Cagliari V made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Mounia El Habbab (186-1994) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Polish guard Barbara Zieniewska (183-1999, college: CSU) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Czech Anna Rylichova (180-1999) produced 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and point guard Giulia Ianezic (180-2000) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cagliari V will meet Salerno on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Empoli will play against Costa Masnaga and hope to win that game.
