There was no surprise when bottom-rankedAlcamo (0-5) was edged at home by top-ranked Matelica (5-0) 56-54 on Sunday. Matelica forced 19 Alcamo turnovers. Cypriot center Eleni Pilakouta (190-2000, college: Omaha) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Benedetta Gramaccioni chipped in 14 points during the contest. Pilakouta is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was North Macedonian forward Matea Nikolic (191-2002, college: Kansas) with 6 points and 10 rebounds and Elena Vella (173-2000) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Matelica have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Alcamo still closes the standings with five games lost.
