There was no surprise when 5th rankedRagusa (7-4) was crushed on the road by first ranked Matelica (10-2) 81-43 on Tuesday. Matelica held Ragusa to an opponent 21.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Ragusa 49-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Matelica especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Matelica made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Chiara Bacchini (181-1998, college: Quinnipiac) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 9 rebounds and Polish Olga Trzeciak (183-2000) who added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Matelica's coach Alberto Matassini felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Ginevra Cedolini (185-2005) with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Swedish forward Precious Johnson (193-2000, college: Duquesne) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Matelica maintains first position with 10-2 record, which they share with Milano Sanga. Loser Ragusa keeps the fifth place with four games lost.
