There was a change at the Serie A2 leadership position after last games. Round 14 most important game was a defeat of league's leaderAlpo (11-2). They were defeated by second ranked Matelica (11-2) 68-58 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Alpo. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Matelica looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Cypriot center Eleni Pilakouta (190-2000, college: Omaha) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Benedetta Gramaccioni (174-1998) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists during the contest. Pilakouta is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Matelica's coach Alberto Matassini used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Serena Soglia (186-2000) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Antonia Peresson (176-1995, college: Georgia Tech) scored 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Matelica keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Alpo .
