There was no surprise when 7th rankedRovigo (7-9) was outplayed on the road by first ranked Matelica (13-2) 73-51 on Saturday. Matelica outrebounded Rovigo 44-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Cypriot center Eleni Pilakouta (190-2000, college: Omaha) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Gloria Offor (175-2005) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Pilakouta is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Matelica players scored in double figures. Guard Silvia Viviani (168-2001) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and center Nicole Leghissa (190-2003) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Matelica . They maintain first place with 13-2 record, which they share with Costa Masnaga. Loser Rovigo keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Livorno and Cagliari CUS.
