The game in Kumamoto was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Chiba Jets (2-4) played at the court of eighth ranked Kumamoto V. (2-2). Kumamoto V. managed to secure a 8-point victory 84-76 on Sunday. Chiba Jets trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 24-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-84 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Kumamoto V. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kumamoto V. moved-up to sixth place. Loser Chiba Jets dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Kumamoto V. will meet higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chiba Jets will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
