Regular Season Round 14: Nishinomiya S. - Mitsubishi DD 67-76

Very expected game in Hyogo where 11th ranked Nishinomiya S. (5-20) was defeated by seventh ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (10-14) 76-67 on Saturday. Nishinomiya S. was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-11 charge of Mitsubishi Dolphins, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds. Forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) chipped in 14 points. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach Reggie Geary used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Shinnosuke Negoro (195-87) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Mitsubishi Dolphins maintains seventh position with 10-14 record. Nishinomiya S. lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 20 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. (#12) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Nishinomiya S. will play against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex and will have a slim chance for a victory.
