Regular Season Round 17: Nishinomiya S. - Chiba Jets 73-70

A very interesting game took place in Hyogo. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Chiba Jets (11-19) to eleventh ranked Nishinomiya S. (6-24) 73-70 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-17. But Chiba Jets won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) nailed a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for the winning side and forward Shinnosuke Negoro (195-87) accounted for 13 points. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Chiba Jets in the defeat. Chiba Jets' coach Zeljko Pavlicevic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Nishinomiya S. maintains eleventh place with 6-24 record. Chiba Jets at the other side keep the eighth position with 19 games lost. Nishinomiya S.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Toshiba Thunders (#4) in Kanagawa and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
