Regular Season Round 19: Tsukuba R. - Toshiba BT 77-85

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Tsukuba R. (5-31) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (24-11) 85-77 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 8 points. It was a great evening for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Senegalese center Aziz N'Diaye (213-88, college: Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Juan Pattillo (201-88, college: W.Kentucky) scored 15 points. Four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. Tsukuba R.'s coach Fujitaka Hiraoka rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Toshiba Thunders maintains fourth place with 24-11 record. Tsukuba R. lost their twelfth game in a row. They stay dead last with 31 lost games. Toshiba Thunders will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#8) in Nagoya in the next round. Tsukuba R. will play on the road against Aishin Sea Horses (#3) in Kariya and hope to win that game.
