Regular Season Round 39: Niigata Albirex - Aomori Watts 90-80

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Aomori Watts (15-20) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (23-12) 90-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Niigata Albirex. Aomori Watts was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aomori Watts 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Niigata Albirex's coach Kazuo Nakamura used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) who recorded 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Jesse Perry (200-89, college: Arizona) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They moved-up to third place. Aomori Watts lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 20 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face again Aomori Watts (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
