Regular Season Round 39: Sendai 89ers - Shinshu BW 80-82

Top ranked Sendai 89ers (25-10) recorded its tenth loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Shinshu BW (16-19) 82-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 25-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) added 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shinshu BW have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Yokohama BC. Sendai 89ers at the other side still keep top position with ten games lost. Shinshu BW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Shinshu BW and are hoping to win this game.
