Regular Season Round 28: Toyota Alvark - Chiba Jets 87-78

NBL top team - Toyota Alvark (41-8) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eighth ranked Chiba Jets (20-29) in Tokyo 87-78. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-78. Toyota Alvark made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) fired 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. The other American import forward Richard Solomon (208-92, college: California, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Takuma Ito used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and international power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Toyota Alvark have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 41-8 record. Chiba Jets lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 29 games lost. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Hitachi Sunrockers.
