Regular Season Round 58: Shimane SM - Hamamatsu P. 51-88

The most important game in the last round took place in Shimane between third ranked Shimane Magic (37-15) and fifth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (36-16) on Sunday night. Shimane Magic was crushed by Hamamatsu Phoenix at home 51-88. The game without a history. Hamamatsu Phoenix led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Shimane Magic to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Shimane Magic 59-22 including a 15-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Shimane Magic helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Shuto Tawatari (185-90) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Tomoya Higashino felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jun Abe (177-86) added 9 points in the effort for Shimane Magic. Hamamatsu Phoenix have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Shimane Magic at the other side dropped to the second position with 15 games lost. They share it with Sendai 89ers.
